Pouty lips, wide lips, key hole lips, thin lips, fluffy lips, bigger top lips, bigger bottom lips. I see many shapes and sizes of lips and while I think they are all beautiful… adding dermal filler to the lips can further beautify, enhance, hydrate and give more youth to the lower face. Lips are one of my absolute favourite areas to inject and I love seeing the look on my clients’ faces when I hand them the mirror and they get to see their new lips for the first time.
Growing up with thin lips myself, it really affected my self-confidence and I would refuse to smile and show my teeth for photos as when I did so my lips would disappear! Over the years I have gradually enhanced my lips with dermal filler. I often get many comments on how natural my lips look (yay!). In order to achieve the most natural look for you it’s all about enhancing what you already have, and giving you proportions that will suit your facial structure… and over time, gradually adding more volume to achieve the most natural result for you.
A lot of clients, at first, are afraid of getting lip fillers because they don’t want to be left with that infamous “duck look.” This is not what happens with an experienced cosmetic injector, don’t worry! The duck look is usually a result of poorly placed filler and over volumising the lips. At Esteem, before any treatment we firstly assess and take into consideration your facial shape and attributes. We don’t want your lips to be the main focal point of your face and take the focus away from your upper face and eyes. What we do is assess your natural lips, in relation to your facial structure then discuss and work with you to give you the result you would like to achieve, whilst maintaining facial harmony.
As part of the natural ageing process, our lips will start to lose volume and can become sun damaged and crepey in appearance – yes, this is very annoying! But this can be fixed! By placing dermal filler strategically to the lips you can instantly achieve a more youthful looking smile. Lip injections are suitable for both men and women, as well as all skin types and an ideal candidate for lip filler would be someone noticing signs of ageing and a loss of volume specifically on the lips. Dermal filler can also help reduce signs of wrinkles on the lips and the loss of the shape or structure of the Cupid’s bow.
If you’re a first timer and a little apprehensive to having volume added to your lips you can always start with what we in the industry call a “lip flip.” This is a treatment used to help subtly transform the look of the lips where small amounts of anti-wrinkle is administered into the muscles surrounding the lips, relaxing them enough so the lips are able to flip outward. This creates the illusion of bigger lips, but unlike fillers doesn’t actually add any volume. But if you’re looking for that extra wow factor (this is one of my favourite treatments) you can try our lip flip combined with lip filler. #newlipswhodis
With lip injections, you can expect some swelling and possible bruising immediately after treatment as a temporary side effect from dermal filler to lips. This is totally normal! I’ve found that most clients usually miss the swollen stage post lip treatment and once the dermal filler has settled they’ll usually return for more filler! It’s a beautiful cycle haha!
With the festive season fast approaching now is the time to come in and see me to start getting your lips looking fabulous for Christmas and kissable for New Years Eve!
