4 Myths about Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

4 Myths about Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Anti-wrinkle treatments are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments today, however, there is still some misconception so I’m going to discuss some of the top anti-wrinkle myths I hear regularly in our clinics.

1. I have heard if I stop getting Anti-wrinkle treatments when it wears off I will look worse?

This is totally untrue, you will not look older after your anti-wrinkle treatment wears off.  Keeping the muscle relaxed is a fantastic preventative as relaxing the muscle does not allow the muscle to animate and contract and cause further lines and wrinkles.  Once the product has worn off in 3-4 months your muscle will return to its previous natural movement at baseline and not any worse.  It is recommended that you have ongoing treatments as this can slowly decrease the size and strength of the muscle.

2. The “Frozen” look

Many people still believe that having anti-wrinkle injectables will create an unnatural and frozen look.  Anti-wrinkle injections are an effective and affordable treatment to help soften, reduce and prevent wrinkles forming.  Our aim is to keep you looking natural, proper placement and dose allows this.  Having an experienced injector is important so you don’t get any untoward effects such as looking surprised or completely frozen and unnatural looking.   A natural look is very possible and a subtle treatment will help to give you a fresher appearance without being obvious any treatment was done at all.

3. Anti-wrinkle treatments are just for women?

This is absolutely false! Welcome to the Brotox Boom! More and more men are having and enquiring about anti-wrinkle treatments.  Many of my female clients are starting to bring in their partners with them to soften their cranky frown lines and to achiever a fresher appearance.  Talk about relationship bonding!  “Those that anti-wrinkle together, stay together”.   I also have many of my male skin clients now coming in to consult and discuss what anti-wrinkle treatments can do for them.

4. Anti-wrinkle injections are just for wrinkles

Not true, before anti-wrinkle injections were used for cosmetic purposes they were effectively treating and still to this day treat a range of medical conditions such as cerebral palsy, cervical dystonia, overactive bladder, migraines, hyperhidrosis (over sweating), bruxism (teeth grinding/jaw clenching) and many more.  I first hand have witnessed the amazing results my best friend who sadly suffered facial paralysis at age 30 has achieved with anti-wrinkle injections.  One of my favourite treatments that I personally have is anti-wrinkle injected into the Masseter muscle for bruxism.  Being a teeth grinder and suffering from an aching in my jaw I began to have anti-wrinkle treatment placed in to my masseter muscles to help relax the muscle and give me relief. As a result it has slimmed down my jawline giving me that heart shaped faced I have always wanted!

Many clients are surprised after their first appointment at just how quick, easy and non-invasive the treatments are.  So what are you waiting for? It’s never too late to start looking younger.  Book in for your complimentary consultation and we can discuss what anti-wrinkle treatments can do for you.
